The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex has published their most recent id21 insights newsletter on ‘Rethinking Sexuality and Policy’. Very much in line with critical sexuality studies, the newsletter reminds us of the need to explore the social, cultural and political regulation of sexuality, and how both national and international policies frame the possibilities for people’s everyday experiences of sexuality and their sexual identities.
The IDS is responsible for research on a range of topics that include health, gender, sexuality and HIV and their website includes a list of their recent publications with open access to working papers on topics as varied as sex work and trafficking, the challenges facing women with HIV, and transgender issues. The IDS is also home to the Sexuality and Development Programme which also lists some very useful resources on sexuality, rights and development.
