Through dialogue with universities, social movements and policymakers in Latin America, the Center coordinates the activities of researchers, activists and other partners interested in encouraging the academic, social and political debate on sexuality and human rights, comprising Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia.
Created in 2002, the Latin-American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights is a project housed within the Program of Study and Research on Gender, Sexuality and Health, at the State University of Rio de Janeiro’s Institute of Social Medicine. It is part of the larger project Global Dialogue on Sexual Health and Well-Being, with centers in Asia, Africa, and the U.S., underwritten by the Ford Foundation.
