The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine offers a Master of Science in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research. The focus is on research skills. There is also a Master in Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV. These are both biomedical.

The aim of this course is to update researchers from developing countries with the latest advances in the field of sexual health research; and to build capacity to conduct multi-disciplinary research on sexual health in diverse settings. The focus is on building a broader and more holistic understanding of sexuality and sexual health and to capture the diversity of inter-related issues related to sexuality and sexual health. The course utilizes both qualitative and quantitative methods to increase the evidence base for sexual health programming.

The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research in collaboration with the World Health Organization offers a 5 week From Research to Practice: Training in Sexual Health Research. This course is biomedical and public health based.

The Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society at the University of Amsterdam is a three week intensive program designed to explore and study the social and cultural dimensions of human sexuality and to build training in the areas of sexuality research (theory and method) not commonly available in other institutions. The international, multidisciplinary faculty and student group facilitates the sharing of varied experiences, research, plans of work and perspectives which in turn provides diverse networking opportunities.

The University of KwaZulu-Natal offers a Gender Studies program at honours and masters level. The course includes research methods, feminist theory and politics and gender and society. The primary focus is on gender rather than sexuality.
